A pizza delivery order at a Florida motel took a horrifying turn when a delivery worker allegedly stabbed a pregnant customer 14 times after a dispute over a tip. The shocking incident unfolded on Sunday at the Riviera Motel in Kissimmee, leaving the victim hospitalized in stable condition, authorities confirmed.
The Dispute Over $2
The victim, identified as Melinda Irizarry, had been staying at the motel with her boyfriend and 5-year-old daughter. They ordered a pizza costing $33, paying with a $50 bill. When the delivery worker, 22-year-old Brianna Alvelo, claimed she didn’t have change, Irizarry scrambled to find smaller bills, ultimately tipping $2.
Alvelo reportedly became visibly upset, rolling her eyes and leaving without comment. Hours later, she allegedly returned, this time armed with a knife and accompanied by an unidentified male with a firearm.
A Terrifying Attack
The suspects forced their way into Irizarry’s motel room, instructing her boyfriend to stay in the bathroom while they ransacked the room. When Irizarry attempted to shield her daughter, Alvelo allegedly stabbed her 14 times. The victim sustained injuries to her chest, arms, legs, and abdomen, and a ruptured lung required emergency surgery.
Police reports revealed that the suspects also stole unspecified belongings during the invasion. The male suspect remains unidentified, while Alvelo was arrested the following day and now faces charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and home invasion with a firearm.
A Shocking Discovery
While receiving medical treatment, Irizarry learned she was pregnant. Doctors expect her to recover fully, and she is currently in stable condition.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office described the attack as an isolated incident and continues investigating.
