Flying can be stressful, but for one passenger, a recent journey turned into an unforgettable nightmare—literally locked away in the airplane bathroom for the entire flight.
This bizarre incident occurred on SpiceJet Flight SG-268, a budget airline traveling from Mumbai to Bengaluru. Shortly after takeoff, the unnamed passenger headed to the lavatory, only to find himself trapped due to a malfunctioning door.
Despite frantic efforts from the crew and other passengers, the door wouldn’t budge, leaving the man stuck for over an hour, including during landing.
The Flight Attendant’s Note
Recognizing the man’s distress, the flight crew attempted to reassure him by sliding a handwritten note under the bathroom door. The note read:
“Sir, we tried our best to open the door, however, we could not. Do not panic. We are landing in a few minutes, so please close the commode lid and sit on it and secure yourself. As soon as the main door is open, an engineer will come. Do not panic.”
After the plane safely landed, two engineers boarded the aircraft and broke open the lavatory door. The passenger was finally freed and immediately provided medical attention.
SpiceJet Responds
SpiceJet issued a public apology and a full refund to the passenger, stating:
“SpiceJet regrets and apologizes for the inconvenience caused to the passenger. The passenger is being provided a full refund.”
While the ordeal lasted less than two hours, it was undoubtedly an experience this passenger won’t forget anytime soon.
