A romantic moment for a Philadelphia couple took a shocking turn when their Range Rover accidentally rolled into the Schuylkill River while parked in Fairmount Park. According to police reports, the couple was engaging in a private encounter in their vehicle when a sudden movement—possibly from a misplaced arm or leg—caused the car to shift into drive.
The vehicle, which was parked dangerously close to the water’s edge, began rolling forward and ultimately plunged into the Schuylkill River. Fortunately, both individuals managed to jump out just in time, escaping the situation without any injuries.
Dive crews were called to the scene early in the morning to locate and retrieve the submerged car. Though no one was hurt, the situation undoubtedly left the couple in an awkward spot as authorities arrived to assess the scene.
This incident has reignited conversations around the risks of being distracted while in vehicles and the importance of ensuring a car is parked safely—especially near large bodies of water.
