Washington Man Arrested After Stealing Ex-Girlfriend’s Pet Chicken: “I’ve Got Polly”

In a bizarre case that has left locals both amused and shocked, a 50-year-old man from Port Orchard, Washington, was arrested after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and stealing her beloved pet chicken, Polly. The incident occurred on the early morning of March 29, when the woman reported that her former boyfriend had invaded her residence and taken the chicken, shouting “I’ve got Polly” repeatedly as he fled the scene.

According to Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office officials, the man, identified as Rye Daniel Wardlaw, broke in and was caught on CCTV. The footage shows him entering through a back door, grabbing the chicken, and then dashing into nearby woods. During the subsequent chase, deputies found him hiding in the bushes. Bodycam footage captured his panicked pleas, with him exclaiming, “Don’t hurt my chicken!” as officers reassured him that Polly would be safe.
