Teacher Arrested and Charged for Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old Student and Allegedly Having a Baby with Him

In a shocking case that has rocked a New Jersey community, a teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student and allegedly having a child with him. Laura Caron, 34, faces charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The alleged crimes took place between 2016 and 2020 at Caron’s home in Cape May Court House. Authorities say the victim, who was 13 years old at the time, was living with Caron when their child was born in 2019. The case came to light when the victim’s father made a social media post in December 2024, noting the resemblance between Caron’s 5-year-old child and his son.

Caron, who taught the victim and his brother in the 5th grade at Middle Township Elementary School, reportedly became close to the victim’s family. The family allowed their children to stay at Caron’s home, which eventually led to the children living with her permanently from 2016 to 2020.

The victim’s sister, who also stayed at Caron’s home, told police that she believed her brother was about 11 years old when he started sleeping in the same bed as Caron. She also reported that Caron would enter the bathroom and lock the door while her brother showered.

In a text message to his sister, the victim admitted that he was the father of Caron’s child and asked her to keep it a secret. The victim’s brother also witnessed Caron sexually assaulting his brother on one occasion.

During an interview with police, the victim confirmed that he had a sexual relationship with Caron and that he was the father of her child. Caron is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Center.

Middle Township School District Superintendent Dr. David Salvo stated that Caron was placed on paid administrative leave as soon as the allegations were brought to the district’s attention. Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super assured parents that the department is working closely with the Prosecutor’s Office to thoroughly investigate the case.
