A late-night prank in Frisco nearly turned deadly when a man fired multiple gunshots at three teenagers taking part in a TikTok-inspired “ding dong ditch” challenge, police said.
Frisco Police confirmed that 58-year-old Damon Wolfe was arrested on August 7 and charged with three counts of aggravated assault after the incident on July 28.

What Happened
Around 10:50 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired at a home on Scottsdale Way in the Sterling Ranch neighborhood. Wolfe told police he believed someone was trying to kick in his door, so he went outside and fired several rounds at a car driving away.
That same night, officers were called to another location nearby, where a vehicle with three teens inside was found with three bullet holes. The teens admitted they had been “ding dong ditching” in a random neighborhood when Wolfe confronted them with a gun.
Investigation and Arrest
Detectives determined there was probable cause to charge Wolfe for shooting at the occupied vehicle. They obtained three arrest warrants, one for each teenager inside the car.
Wolfe was later booked into jail and released after posting a $30,000 bond.
If convicted, he faces 2 to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000 for each count, as aggravated assault is considered a second-degree felony in Texas.
Police Response
Frisco Police Chief David Shilson called the incident “senseless and avoidable,” warning that both the prank and the use of gunfire put lives at risk.
“The teens involved in this case are very fortunate they were not shot and killed or seriously injured,” Shilson said. “The bullets fired in this offense could have easily struck neighbors’ houses and had deadly consequences.”
Shilson also urged parents to talk to their children about the dangers of social media challenges, while reminding homeowners about the legal consequences of firing at fleeing suspects.
Police say the investigation is still active but emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.
