The bizarre stunt began on December 29, when Victoria’s X account posted a shocking message claiming, “I have kidnapped Vicky. She is with me in Nigeria. I am demanding $1 million for her release.”

The alarming tweet quickly went viral, prompting widespread concern. However, later that day, the 24-year-old took to Instagram Live to confess that the entire ordeal was a prank she had devised to entertain herself.

“A Joke That Went Too Far”

“I don’t drink or go to clubs, so this is how I find my entertainment,” Victoria explained to her 3.7 million followers. She added, “It was just a joke that I got carried away with. I take full accountability and apologize to anyone I harmed.”

Victoria acknowledged that her actions had unintended consequences, sparking outrage online, particularly from Nigerians who felt disrespected by the prank. She later issued a formal apology on X, saying, “I never intended to make any Black man or country, especially Nigeria, look bad. If it came across that way, I’m truly sorry.”

Blame Game and Lessons Learned

In her lengthy apology, Victoria revealed that the idea for the fake kidnapping was suggested by her brother, who even proposed creating a cryptocurrency based on the prank. “In hindsight, it was a terrible idea,” she admitted.

The influencer also reflected on the backlash, stating, “Not thinking things through comes with consequences, and I’m paying for it now. I’ve learned a lot from this, and I’ll be taking time off the internet to reflect.”

Despite her public apologies, many fans remain skeptical of her sincerity, with some suggesting the apologies were scripted.

“A Pattern of Seeking Attention?”

The incident has reignited debates about the lengths influencers will go to for attention. Critics argue that stunts like these damage trust and trivialize serious issues.

Victoria, however, seems to be moving on, as she recently posted a video of herself seemingly getting engaged to fellow influencer Aboki Tor Jar. While some fans congratulated the couple, others questioned the authenticity of the engagement.
