A bizarre story has emerged from Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand, where a man admitted to stealing hundreds of pieces of underwear to decorate what locals are now calling a “masturbation tree.”
The Unusual Discovery
The culprit, identified as 27-year-old Ophas Chuenjit, was arrested after a passerby noticed the peculiar sight near Khlong Khlung Hospital. Rangsan Jaisaen, a local resident, stumbled upon the bamboo clump adorned with undergarments while driving through the area. Shocked by the scene, he immediately reported it to the police, describing it as “so unusual” and even capturing video evidence.
The Disturbing Habit
Authorities revealed that Chuenjit had been stealing underwear from men, women, children, and even elderly residents. His actions were reportedly driven by uncontrollable urges when under the influence of alcohol. Chuenjit confessed that he would sniff the garments while pleasuring himself before discarding them once the scent faded. He then hung the garments on the bamboo clump, creating a peculiar shrine of stolen underwear.
Police Investigation
Upon searching Chuenjit’s home, police found 67 pieces of unwashed underwear believed to have been stolen from nearby villages. Six victims have already come forward to claim their stolen garments, and police suspect there may be many more who haven’t reported the thefts yet.
Police Colonel Somchai Mongkonwong stated, “The suspect couldn’t control his urges when drunk. He would steal underwear, use them, and then hang them on the bamboo clump behind the hospital.”
Legal Action
Chuenjit now faces charges of nighttime theft, which could result in a jail term of one to five years, a fine ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 baht (approximately £47 to £237), or both. Authorities are urging other potential victims to come forward to strengthen the case against him.
The shocking incident has sparked conversations in the community, with locals expressing both outrage and disbelief at the man’s behavior.
