A Japanese fashion brand is making headlines for turning women’s underwear into luxury hair accessories — and selling them for more than $100 a piece.
Tokyo-based label JennyFax has unveiled the “Panty Ribbon Bow”, a hair clip made from silky women’s panties with a metal clip attached. The accessory, which resembles a scrunched bow complete with waistband and leg holes, comes in black, pink, and blue. Each piece is priced at around 17,600 yen (roughly $119).

Founded by designer Su Zhenfang in 2010 alongside Mikio Sakabe, JennyFax has long been known for its playful, surreal approach to fashion. The brand’s past designs include doll-like dresses, cartoonish silhouettes, and nostalgic accessories that blur the line between innocence and subversion. The panty hair clip fits neatly into that theme — equal parts cheeky, whimsical, and provocative.
When photos of the “Panty Ribbon Bow” began circulating on Chinese social media, many users thought it was a parody or even fetishwear. But others pointed out that JennyFax has always leaned into unconventional design, making it less about shock value and more about reimagining femininity in unusual ways.

The unusual hair accessory also sparked comparisons to other high-fashion stunts, like Balenciaga’s worn-out sneakers priced at nearly $2,000 or ZNWR’s inflatable pants. While JennyFax’s panty bows may be unusual, they’ve already sold out in all colors — proof that there’s no shortage of demand for quirky fashion statements.
Whether it’s meant to challenge, amuse, or simply stand out, the “Panty Ribbon Bow” has succeeded in doing what most brands strive for: getting people talking.
